The
brothers of Kappa Alpha Order at MS&T are dedicated to serving our schools, our
community, an dour nation. They offer their time and resources across the
Midwest to lend a helping hand to those in
need. The brothers of Beta Alpha volunteer several time each year for
local churches. We also have three volunteer firefighters in the house
who spend hundreds of hours helping the community. Members also
frequently tutor high school and elementary students. Finally, Beta Alpha
is an active participant in the adopt-a-highway program. These are just a
few of the major philanthropy projects that brothers spend their time on.
With all these projects the average number of service hours per year is about
100 hours per man. This past year as a house we managed 3517 hours total.
The Beta
Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order is also an important contributor to the
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), our national philanthropy. Our
chapter raises approximately $6,000 every year that is donated to MDA.
During the year, we have several fundraising projects including the MDA car
show, a rib sale, Buffalo BBQ and a gold
scramble among others. These philanthropic events are excellent
opportunities for brothers to have a terrific time while aiding the less
fortunate.
